It seems that whenever we post something on finances, our readership increases for that particular post. Why is that? Is it because all prophetic people lack money? Are all prophetic people waiting for their prophetic promises in this area of their life to be fulfilled?

I wish I could say that I never worried about money or that I rarely minister to people lacking financial resources. The truth is the opposite. I wonder at times when our financial situation is going to turn around and more often than not I seem to end up giving a word about financial resources even when people don’t mention it. However, God must know that it is on their heart and mind and He loves to gives reassurance in this area.

Why does money occupy so much of our mental space, even when the Bible tells us not to worry about the things of this world? After all, God said to seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and then He promises that all these things shall be added to us as well (Matthew 6:33). Is this not true? Have we not experienced this time and time again?

I think the Lord understands our plight. Maybe that is why He had to address the subject so often. I think He understands that we are human and that these things occupy our mind and thoughts, even when He affirms over and over again that He will take care of us. After all, one of the names of God is Jehovah Jireh, the Lord will Provide.

We try to remind ourselves that there is more to life to making and having money, but the adage “money makes the world go round” seems to hold true in so many ways.

A long time ago the Lord started teaching me about money. These lessons did not come easily. Eventually, I let Him be Lord over my finances. It’s been quite a ride. There’s always been enough and He reminds me often that there is abundance: more than enough. He is gracious and kind and not a hard taskmaster, always wanting “another pound of flesh,” or wanting the last dollar we have in our pocket. He is generous and with Him there is no lack. At times He asked me to make financial decisions that were counterintuitive, but it always worked out because He knew where the next shipment of gold was coming from. In the Kingdom there is more than enough. He is the God who can fill vessels of oil with a single jar, turn water into wine, or make a fish appear with a gold coin in it to pay the taxes. Life isn’t always so dramatic, but He really can feed 5000 people with a boy’s lunch entrusted to Him. How does that work? I do not know. I just know that there is more where that came from.
