Interpreting dreams for others can be a bit tricky. As I have been learning the process of dream interpretation, there have been times that I relied way to heavily on the process that I was learning. Someone would share a dream with me hoping that I could give them real insight. So I would use the interpretative process that I had been learning in my Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry dream interpretation classes. The process has always proved to be valuable, but using it alone seemed to lack power.
As students would come to me asking for a dream to be interpreted, I would run them through the process. My thinking was: “teach them how to fish instead of giving them a fish.” I wanted them to be able to interpret their dreams for themselves. The problem was that I was only giving them half the equation. They also needed to invite the power of the Holy Spirit in along with the process in order to get meaningful insight.
I have had many God dreams. In the last 4 years I have found that if I use only the process that I have been learning, I don’t get the whole picture. I remember feeling like I was putting in a lot of effort and getting little in return.
One day I was asking Holy Spirit about this and He said, “Eric you have laid down your prophetic gifting in exchange for a process.” That was an aha moment! Holy Spirit went on to say that using the interpretive process along with the prophetic insight that He had been teaching me would bear the fruit that I was looking for.
I started incorporating both and the outcome was great. I began being able to interpret dreams for myself and other in a much richer and effective way. So what I have learned is that God-given gifts, that can and should be used in all areas of my life, can be incorporated into many types of learned processes for a far richer outcome.
“Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on him to guide you, and he will lead you in every decision you make. Become intimate with him in whatever you do, and he will lead you wherever you go. Don’t think for a moment that you know it all, for wisdom comes when you adore him with undivided devotion and avoid everything that’s wrong. Then you will find the healing refreshment your body and spirit long for.” Proverbs 3:5-8 TPT
