Is it just me? Or is there incessant chatter in the air? Everywhere? It’s so easy to get swept up in all that’s going on. Not just the COVID/politics, etc. but also our own personal stuff. This week I am even more keenly aware of the struggles of those around me that have been affected by the COVID economic crisis. Loss of jobs, decrease in hours or pay cuts to name a few. The stress, initial shock and uncertainty are tangible. And it’s floating around everywhere.
I can sense it. When I’m trying to focus and pray. When I’m writing and especially at night or early morning when I’m trying to sleep. Thoughts barrage my mind. Suggestions, whispers, not even fully formed sentences, just incessant chatter. And if I let it, if I begin to entertain any of those thoughts, fear begins to creep in. It begins to take hold in the corners of my mind, like a quiet swirling fog descending through the city streets. Not noticed at first, subtle and sneaky. And then when you turn the corner, you realize you can’t see 3 feet in front of you!
And that is exactly what fear does. It sneaks in subtly, until all of a sudden you can’t see clearly what was right in front of you. Not only that but your long-distance vision is also severely impaired. You walk around with your hands out in front of you, preparing yourself. protecting yourself from bumping into the next obstacle. Always on guard, always bracing yourself for the next thing. I’ve lived like that in the past. But I refuse to live like that now! No matter what is going on around me!
We all have a choice to make. We can partner with and entertain those thoughts and fears. Living from a place of constant contention and control. Trying to figure out and understand the reasons behind the things that happen in our lives.
And please don’t get me wrong! I’m all for being as fully informed as we can be. Whether it’s a health issue, relational struggle, financial stress or why the world has been turned upside down at the moment. But! There is a line. There is a moment where we have to choose. Are we living, constantly contending FOR victory? Or are we living FROM a place of victory?
As a prophetic people, we need to be aware that we will pick things up in the atmosphere. I always used to think it was just me. But, we are spirit beings living in a physical body. We are wired to hear and see things beyond the physical. And one of the main ploys of the enemy is to DISTRACT us from hearing the heart of the Father. Colossians 3:2: Set your minds on the things that are above not on the things that are on earth. The spirit realm thrives on attention. We must be discerning to know ‘what and whom’ we are giving our attention to!
Who are we aligning our thoughts and prayers with?
We need to remember, if we know Jesus, we know the fight has already been won. Even if we can’t see it yet. Even if whatever we are believing for looks different to what we were hoping for.
No matter! The ultimate victory is ours! We just have to open our eyes and our heart to see it. And if seeing it means we have to let go of fully understanding it, then so be it. I’m not God, I don’t see the whole picture. And to be perfectly honest, I don’t really want to see all the details – the good the bad the ugly. I just want to make sure I’m partnering with Him. Because I know Him. And I know His heart for us is to have a future that is full of hope and that is good! And that’s enough for me.
So, if you’re struggling with any chatter at the moment and you feel that ‘fear fog’ lurking about in the corners of your mind, I want to encourage you:
- You are not alone.
- You can choose what you partner with.
- It may not actually be you, but what you’re picking up in the atmosphere. After all we are spirit beings in a physical body.
- You live FROM a place of victory not for one.
- And ultimately you have a future. It is good and full of hope.
Even if you don’t see it yet, He does! He has already purchased it. And you are on the winning side!
Declaration
God we will fix our hearts and minds on you.
Thank you that we are seated in Heavenly places with Christ Jesus..
We see from your perspective not from an earthly perspective.
Thank you that we carry your divine peace that surpasses all understanding and we can trust in You.
Romans 12:2: Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect.

Thank you for the encouraging and truthful reminders to silence the “chatter” and refocus on the truth Jesus paid for.
