D r e e a a a m Dream Dream Dream . . .
“D re e a a a m, Dream, Dream Dream . . . when I want you in my arms, when I want you, with all your charms, whenever I want you, all I have to do is dre e e a a a m dream dream . . .” my mumma used top play this Everly Brothers song when she was a young girl and I grew up listening to it.
I Love to dream and I LOOOOVE sleep! But not for the reasons most people have! It is where I hear and encounter God more than anywhere else. I look forward to sleeping every night and even the odd nap or two as well! I have been a dreamer for as long as I can remember, and God has been speaking to me through dreams even before I ‘officially’ knew Him. I love how He speaks to His kids – even those that don’t even know Him yet!
One of my most significant life dreams happened when I was 16 years old. I was living in Sydney at the time with my family. In the dream, I dreamt about a boy….what girl doesn’t dream of boys at 16? He had dark hair, brown eyes and his name was Steve. He came from my hometown, 12 hours south of where I was living. I knew in the dream that I would marry him.
When I woke up, I sensed immediately that the dream was significant. Remember I didn’t know Jesus at the time, but I just knew that I knew that it was somehow ‘spiritual’. And at that time the only concept of ‘spiritual’ for me was new age. So off to the medium I went to ask what she thought about it. Of course, she couldn’t tell me anymore than I already knew – that it was a ‘significant’ dream.
Fast forward 3 years and I had forgotten about the dream. Through some life circumstances I was now living back in my hometown and decided to go to a local 21st birthday party. There I spotted a very cute boy. After being introduced and talking to each other for 5 hours straight, we realized we had a definite connection. His name . . . Steve, he had dark hair and big brown eyes. Three years after that, we were married.
Fast forward another three years and we both gave our hearts to Jesus. And then about a year into the journey with Jesus, God reminded me of the dream! I had actually journaled about it as well.
God showed me how He had His hand on both of us even before we knew Him; that He had been speaking to me in my dreams for years before I realized it. And why wouldn’t He?
We spend a third of our lives sleeping – our bodies and minds resting, but our spirit never sleeps and God never stops trying to connect with us!
This is the beauty of the prophetic; God ’s first language is CONNECTION. Whether it be through His Word, during worship, through our thoughts and feelings or through dreams in the night, He is always pursuing us and always has our best interests at heart! He is so good.
Happy Valentines Day everyone, happy d r e e a a m i n g !!! and never forget who our first love really is! Jesus.
Our ultimate dreamer!
